South African rapper and songwriter Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, known professionally as Nasty C, kicks off 2022 in great style with a Gianni Capovilla-produced tune that appears to be an early Valentine’s Day present to his fans.
“Stalling” is a relatable song with the catchphrase “You can just go if you want to leave, If you don’t want to travel the entire way there with me, then farewell Goodbye.”
As he celebrates his 25th birthday, South African recording artist Nasty C has shared a comeback single called “Stalling” which finds him reflecting on the woes of a toxic relationship.
“You can just leave if you wanna leave / If you don’t wanna go the whole way there with me, then goodbye, goodbye / You can tell your friends don’t bother me / You’re fucking up a good thing and they all can see that I try, I try,” he sings at the beginning of the track, before telling the lover who hurt him that he won’t be coming back on the chorus.
“We’re Number 3 ACROSS ALL GENRES!! Thank you to everybody listening to #Stalling… I hope that if you relate to it, it’s because of something that happened long ago & not recently,” Nasty C captioned an IG post celebrating the release of “Stalling” over the weekend.
He burst into international consciousness through the success of the global hit Particula with the renowned Major Lazer. His album Strings and Bling dominated the iTunes charts in South Africa and helped to propel his career further in the right direction. He has proven that he is not a one-hit wonder as he continues to produce hits and dominate the heavily contested charts.
The 24-year-old rapper has released four studio albums. After releasing three mixtapes, one being “Undisputed” and two EPs, Ngcobo released his debut album Bad Hair (2016), and Strings and Bling (2018) which was associated and supported by his first tour, The Ivyson Tour.
He was the youngest recipient of an award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards, namely the Best Freshman Award. In March 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Records, and released his United States official single after joining Def Jam, “There They Go”, which gained him global recognition, he then released his third album on 28 August 2020, and his first on the label which is titled Zulu Man with Some Power (2020).
In 2017, Nasty C took home the Record of the Year gong at the South African Music Awards for his anthemic song, Hell Naw. He also took home that year four Metro FM Awards for Best New Artist, Best Male Album, Best Hip Hop Album and Song Of The Year.
The young gun originally shot to superstardom after releasing his instant classic, ‘Juice Back’ off his 2014 mixtape, Price City. It was followed by a remix featuring Cassper Nyovest and DaVido.
Quotable Lyrics:
- You can just leave if you wanna leave
- If you don’t wanna go the whole way there with me, then goodbye. Goodbye
- You can tell your friends don’t bother me
- You’re fucking up a good thing and they all can see that I try, I try
- I won’t come back, I’m sorry
- I’ma finish what you started
- I thought you said you was all in
- You stalling, you stalling
